Job Description: Senior Accountant / CPA – Interim Firm Manager $48.08+/hr ($100K+) Location: Naperville, IL Job Type: Contract / Full-Time (Interim – Transaction Period) Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced and credentialed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to oversee operations and manage all accounting functions for a CPA firm in Naperville, IL during a transitional/transaction period. The ideal candidate will have at least 5-10 years of experience in public accounting, with demonstrated expertise in corporate tax returns, financial statement preparation, and personal income tax filings. Key Responsibilities: Manage daily operations of the CPA firm during the transition period. Prepare and review corporation tax returns (Form 1120, 1120S) and personal tax returns (Form 1040). Oversee the preparation and finalization of corporate financial statements (GAAP-compliant). Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing advisory and tax planning support. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Manage and supervise junior staff or contractors if applicable. Maintain accurate and organized client records and workpapers. Coordinate with legal, financial, or M&A teams involved in the firm’s transaction process, as needed. Qualifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required. Minimum of 10 years of experience in public accounting. Strong background in corporate tax, financial statement preparation, and individual tax returns. Experience managing or operating within a CPA firm environment. Excellent communication and client relationship skills. Ability to work independently and handle confidential firm matters with discretion. Preferred: Experience with firm transitions, M&A, or practice sales is a strong plus. Proficiency in tax and accounting software (e.g., Lacerte, UltraTax, QuickBooks, CaseWare). Compensation: $100,000+/annual salary. Competitive and commensurate with experience. This is a temporary/interim role, with the potential for longer-term engagement depending on fit and outcomes.
