The Rides Maintenance Technician is responsible for the modification, repair, and refurbishment of equipment and facilities of a designated set of amusement rides or devices. Maintenance completes preventative maintenance, testing rides, adjusting controls, diagnosing issues, and repairing system malfunctions as they occur. This position plays an integral role in ensuring the safe and continuous operation of park rides and attractions, which, in turn, strengthens guest satisfaction. Roles & Responsibilities include conducting daily pre-opening inspections of attractions and property, diagnosing and correcting mechanical issues, responding to trouble calls urgently, maintaining the property in a clean, presentable, and safe manner, performing repairs and service as directed by manufacturers’ requirements and specifications, performing preventative maintenance such as painting, battery replacement, smoke detector checks, HVAC cleaning, door/lock repair, plumbing, drywall repair, basic carpentry, electrical repairs, scheduling repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations, utilizing proper PPE, maintaining storage areas, shops, and mechanical areas in a clean, safe, organized, and secure manner, completing repair work orders timely, and keeping maintenance and park leaders informed of corrective issues. Education and Experience required include a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent (or equivalent work experience), 1-2 years previous work experience in maintenance or mechanics highly desired, previous experience with roller coasters or amusement rides desired but not required, and language proficiency in English (Spanish or other bilingual skills a plus). Requirements include being at least 18 years old, ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays, valid driver’s license with good driving record, strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency with mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and small combustion engine repair, ability to read and comprehend manuals and technical drawings, familiarity with theme park ride mechanics and local codes, and providing own tools. Physical requirements include ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, bend, climb, or squat for long periods, carry/push/pull/lift objects weighing 75 pounds or more, work in confined spaces or at heights, and see details and color differences. Working conditions include exposure to variable weather, high noise, vibrations, motorized equipment, chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and working at significant heights over 100 feet.
