Job Description and Duties

The Office of Equal Opportunity's Civil Rights and Education Equity Monitoring Unit ensures compliance with state and federal civil rights and equity laws, policies, regulations, reporting requirements, rules, and statutes in the delivery of education services. This is accomplished through the statewide implementation, enforcement, and monitoring of local educational agencies' (LEAs) civil rights policies, practices,and procedures.

Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I, the Associate Governmental Program Analyst perform complex and technical duties, including:

• Conducting civil rights compliance reviews of LEAs, which includes LEA staff interviews, reviewing evidence of compliance, and analyzing appropriate legal requirements.

• Preparing thorough written findings and identifying compliance violations and corrective actions.

• Facilitating and monitoring the timely resolution of compliance violations.

• Providing ongoing guidance and technical assistance to LEAs on civil rights and equity policies, practices, and procedures.

• Providing in-depth compliance training to LEA staff.

TELEWORK OPTION

HYBRID

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office.

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

• Extensive experience writing and/or independently preparing compliance findings reports.

• Excellent ability to clearly and effectively communicate, verbally and in writing.

• Intermediate experience in researching, summarizing, and explaining policy and procedures.

• Knowledge of state and federal civil rights laws, policies, codes, and regulations which aid in supporting compliance and equal access for all pupils in all educational services.
