Enjoy a Monday through Friday schedule with 10-hour shifts, starting at 5:00 AM or 6:00 AM—no weekends, no holidays! We’re looking for candidates with HT or HTL certification or prior histology experience. A background in Biology, Human Anatomy & Physiology, or Forensics is also a great fit. In this role, there is the opportunity to -

• Conduct QC checks at each stage of tissue processing and staining.
\n
• Process, prepare, and embed surgical and autopsy tissue specimens according to specific protocols.
\n
• Comply with UPMC and departmental policies, procedures, and work practices.
\n
• Perform ancillary tasks such as filing, cleaning, and stocking supplies.
\n
• Assist with additional duties and assignments as directed by lab leadership.
\n
• Prepare slides for microtomy using barcode labels to ensure correct patient identification.
\n
• Support the academic mission of the department through active engagement.
\n
• Maintain laboratory instruments by following quality control specifications and daily protocols.

Required

\n
• High school diploma
\n
• 1 year of clinical laboratory experience  OR 1 year of experience through training in a laboratory either on the job or through a vocational school
\n

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Histology Technician (HT) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is preferred.
