We’re partnering with a growing manufacturing company in Southern Michigan to find an experienced Materials Manager to join their team. Responsibilities:
Develop and execute strategies for timely procurement of materials and inventory management to support production needs.
Oversee material planning, production scheduling, purchasing, and inventory control.
Coordinate with production teams to ensure material availability aligns with manufacturing deadlines.
Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules, maintaining strong vendor relationships.
Analyze and monitor inventory levels to minimize carrying costs while ensuring supply meets demand.
Implement lean manufacturing processes to optimize material flow and reduce waste.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs), such as inventory accuracy, on-time delivery, and cost effectiveness, to measure department success.
Resolve supply chain disruptions and lead corrective actions quickly and effectively.
Drive process improvements and recommend cost-saving initiatives within materials management.
Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards regarding procurement and inventory practices.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of inventory management systems (e.g., ERP/MRP software) and supply chain analytics.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interface with internal teams and external suppliers.
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team while fostering a positive work culture.
Highly organized with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
Experience with lean manufacturing principles and cost-reduction strategies is a plus.
