The Floating Full-time Pediatric Medical Assistant (MA) 2 will perform multi-skilled tasks to assist the medical providers in various locations in South Miami areas (Medical Campus, Desai Sethi Medical Center, Lennar Medical Center, UHealth Kendall, UHealth Palmetto Bay, UHealth Lejeune, and South Miami-Dade). MA2 will be home-based at Medical Campus Desai Sethi - Pediatric Clinic. The Pediatric MA 2 provides hands-on care to patients while adhering to regulatory requirements, standards of care, and institutional policies and procedures, under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician. The physician in charge may delegate the tasks to oversee the Pediatric MA 2 to a Nurse or Designee in charge of the unit/clinic. The Pediatric Medical Assistant (MA) 2 shall adhere to ethical and legal standards of professional practice, recognize, respond to emergencies, and demonstrate professionalism. The Pediatric Medical Assistant (MA) 2 provides care within the philosophy, mission, vision and values, as well as within the policies and procedures of the Department of Nursing and the University of Miami. As a professional, monitors the quality of care provided and nurtures a compassionate and healing environment. The Pediatric Medical Assistant (MA) 2 works directly with the Nurse Manager/Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse and/or the Designee in charge of the Unit or Clinic to ensure a safe delivery of care that supports the UHealth mission. The physician in charge may delegate the tasks to oversee the MA 2 to a Nurse or Designee in charge of the unit/clinic. Core job functions include providing overall care with loving kindness, supporting patient’s individual needs, creating a safe and comfortable environment, prioritizing and integrating multiple requests, communicating clearly, contributing to team building, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines including HIPAA, meeting diverse communication needs, performing professionally within clinical scope, accepting and providing constructive feedback, assisting providers with physical examinations, performing routine laboratory tests, vital signs, EKG, phlebotomy, administering medication safely as directed by physician (except in hospital-based units), escorting patients, sterilizing instruments, scheduling tests, maintaining accurate records, and adhering to policies and procedures. Education required is a high school diploma or equivalent and graduation from an approved Medical Assistant educational program recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Certifications include CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA or proof of completion of an approved educational program with agreement to obtain certification within 12 months. Additional certifications include AHA Basic Life Support and Florida HIV/AIDS Healthcare Professional CE Certification. Minimum of 2 years previous experience is required.
