Title: Polisher

Classification: Non-exempt

Reports to: Team Leader of assigned group

Department : Fabrication

 

Position Summary : A Polisher at Idaho Steel deburrs and polishes parts as assigned by the group leader. They understand the integral role they play in the fabrication process and prioritize organization and delivery of parts to the necessary departments in a timely manner. The person is required to work well with others. Strong work ethics, integrity, and a willingness to learn and grow within the company are also an important part of employment with Idaho Steel Products.

  • Have a basic understanding of the different materials and thicknesses we work with at Idaho Steel.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Ability and willingness to receive and implement instruction.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate grinders and drills safely.
  • Ability to deburr and polish parts per company standards.
  • Ability to read and understand job cut files and part numbers.
  • Good organizational skills with focus on transferring job numbers and part numbers to finished parts for ease of delivery and assembly.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience with the use of overhead cranes.
  • Ability and willingness to perform a variety of other tasks including, but not limited to, shop and yard clean-up, and material handling.
  • Ability to work well with other employees.
  • Understand the safety policies of the shop and to follow the shop safety practices.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for a large percentage of the workday. The job also requires a lot of kneeling and bending.
  • Wearing required personal protective equipment (safety glasses, work boots, gloves, etc.).
