Job Description

Job Summary

Greenways for Nashville, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works to support, promote, and enhance Nashville and Davidson County’s system of greenways, is seeking applicants for the part-time position of Project Manager based out of our Nashville, TN office. This position reports directly to Greenways for Nashville’s Executive Director.

Since 1994, Greenways for Nashville has assisted in developing a significant trail footprint of nearly 100 miles, including the protection of over 2,700 acres of floodplain land and the addition of over 7,000 acres of parkland through the work of the Greenways and Open Space Division of Metro Parks.

Job Responsibilities

Project Planning and Initiation:

  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Develop detailed project plans including timelines and resource allocation.
  • Create project budgets and track expenses. 
  • Identify and interview potential contractors with site meetings when appropriate.

Project Execution:

  • Manage project contractors, including graphic designers, painting contractors, and sign installation contractors.
  • Monitor project progress and evaluate/approve contractor invoicing.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among team members and stakeholders. 
  • Report on project status to key decision-makers. 

Stakeholder Management:

  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including donors, partners, board members, and key Metro Parks personnel. 
  • Communicate project updates and address concerns effectively. 

Trailhead Restoration Project – Assess and document specific needs at each greenway trailhead and access point, including the following:

  • Sign dimensions – outside and inside frame dimensions
  • Identify if the sign is single- or double-sided (map on both sides)
  • If single-sided, will the back of the sign be solid green, or have Greenway Name/Trailhead Name (e.g. if visible from a road)?
  • Identify the best orientation of new map(s) relative to sign position
  • Number of metal bollards to be painted
  • Number of metal benches to be cleaned and/or painted
  • Number of wooden benches to be cleaned, sealed, and painted
  • Number of metal trash cans to be replaced
  • Any other repairs or replacements needed

Qualifications

  • Goal-focused, self-motivated, organized, creative and adaptable
  • Basic knowledge or experience in the construction industry
  • Familiarity with Nashville’s Greenway network and park system
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management; detail-oriented with strong follow-through, demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines, and ability to juggle multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
  • The ability to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders
