Job specification Candidate requirements Job specification Review and analyze patient medical records to identify diagnoses and procedures requiring coding. Assign accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to diagnoses and procedures based on official coding guidelines. Ensure coding practices adhere to federal regulations, including compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance billing requirements. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation in support of accurate and complete coding. Participate in ongoing coding audits and educational initiatives to ensure compliance and maintain coding accuracy. Candidate requirements An Associate's degree in Health Information Management or a related field is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred. Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent is required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical coding, with an emphasis on ICD-10 and CPT coding systems.
