General Description The Orange County Housing department has an opening for a temporary Community Development Specialist. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS The work involves administering services for low- and moderate-income Orange County residents related to the County's property tax relief program: Longtime Homeowner Assistance (LHA).
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Community Development Program Manager with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in the performance of duties. Supervision of others is not required of this position. Position does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from a regionally accredited or recognized college with an Associate's Degree
AND one (1) year of work experience in coordinating and administering services related to housing and community development programs;
OR Graduation from high school
AND three (3) years of work experience in coordinating and administering services related to housing and community development programs;
OR An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined above. A higher degree does not substitute for work experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT Possession of, or ability to readily obtain, a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
This position will require in-office work, with the possibility of some remote work.
