Job Summary As an Underwriter II at Abacus, your primary responsibility will be providing timely and accurate replies to broker requests which will include servicing submissions, fielding message inquiries and servicing broker requests as they navigate through the Abacus platform.
The first 2-3 months will require this person to report onsite to the Santa Monica office. Overtime, the schedule may evolve to hybrid.
Position Responsibilities - Familiarization with program guidelines, system navigation, compliance requirements
- Collaborate with other team members within underwriting, claims, accounting, marketing
- Provide exceptional service to our brokers - timely, quality, professional customer service.
- Communicate with brokers, primarily via a proprietary messaging system but also via phone.
- Review submissions across various programs.
- Work out of proprietary Abacus platform using the submission queue and respond to broker inquiries from an incoming message queue
- Assist with compliance by overseeing sub producer E&O, licensing, and OFAC
- Fill in with offline requirements such as data needs and special projects
- Work in a dynamic, automated environment that operates at a fast pace
- 2/3 of underwriting duties will be aligned to Entertainment and 1/3 will be aligned to non-entertainment
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
- 3 - 5 years film production and special event insurance experience
- P&C license
- Excellent verbal communication and written skills
- Desire and willingness to partake in the underwriting duties across all of the Abacus programs
- Comfortable with a fast-paced environment
- Adept at efficiently managing workload
Role Progression: This role has the opportunity to develop into a senior and then lead underwriter for all programs.

The starting annual pay scale for this position is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on factors such as skills, qualifications, training, and experience. In addition, the company offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) plan with match, paid time off, and other benefits.
ISC's salary ranges are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
National Pay Range
$70,000-$89,000 USD
