Job Description

The Director of Advocacy & Community Engagement has a critical role in supporting Green Dot’s mission to prepare students for college, leadership, and life. The Director will lead efforts to advance the mission of Green Dot Public Schools through strategic advocacy, community engagement, and policy reform initiatives. This role involves developing relationships with community leaders, elected officials, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure access to high-quality education for all students. Responsibilities include leading advocacy campaigns for charter school policies and education reform, cultivating community relationships, building coalitions, managing strategic communications, developing campaigns, fundraising, and leading a team. The role requires a passion for social impact, understanding of advocacy processes, grassroots organizing skills, and experience in education reform. The position is based primarily in Los Angeles at Green Dot California’s central office and reports to the Chief of Staff. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree (master's preferred), 7+ years in advocacy/community engagement/education policy with leadership experience, strong communication and project management skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite. The role requires consistent attendance during scheduled hours with limited flexibility and passing a TB test and background check at offer time.
