Summary

This vacancy is for a Mail Clerk position in the Department of Commerce , U.S. Census Bureau Philadelphia Regional Office located in Philadelphia, PA .

This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Mail Clerk, 0305-5, FPL GS-5, positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.

Duties

  • Process mail using USPS approved postal equipment.
  • Operate a variety of mail preparation and related office equipment such as postage metering machine, sealing machine, postage scale, facsimile machines, photocopier, shredder, etc.
  • Establish, update, and maintain distribution patterns and codes, mailing lists, and tracking systems.

  • The work schedule for this position is Mixed Tour. With a Mixed Tour work schedule, an employee may be changed between full-time, part-time and intermittent work schedules to accommodate fluctuating workloads and is subject to a signed agreement.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: For GS-05 , you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal services. Experience for this position includes sorting mail addressed in a variety of ways for distribution to numerous delivery points; recording and controlling incoming and outgoing registered, insured, and certified mail; screening outgoing materials to ensure that they are in proper format and addressed in accordance with appropriate regulations; and/or performing clerical duties such as rerouting misdirected mail, date stamping, and screening priority items.

Education: Four years above high school.
